It is a white crystal solid that is insoluble in water. 3-Bromo-2-ethoxypyridine can be used as an intermediate in the synthesis of other organic compounds. The molecular modelling and reaction mechanism of this compound have been studied extensively. The crystal structure was determined by X-ray diffraction studies, and found to be composed of three conformers: trans, syn, and anti. Trans conformation is the most stable conformer for 3-bromo-2-ethoxypyridine.
