Bis(4-methylpentyl)phthalate (BMPP) is a plasticizer that is used in many products such as cosmetics, paints and adhesives. BMPP has the chemical formula CH(COCH). It is a cross-linker that acts to increase the viscosity of polymers. The dry weight of BMPP is around 100g/mol. The molecular weight of this compound is around 216.04g/mol. Electrospray ionization quadrupole mass spectrometry (ESI-QMS) was used to analyze the sample. To prepare a sample for analysis, microcapsules were created by dissolving BMPP in chloroform and sonicating it with water and then drying it out.
