Description:Benzotetramisole is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that has been shown to be effective in the immobilization of rats and mice. It is an enantiopure compound with kinetic, nucleophilic, and ring-opening properties. Benzotetramisole is synthesized from β-amino acid, which undergoes a series of reactions including methanolysis, reductive amination, and ring-opening to yield the desired product. This reaction proceeds with only one enantiomer due to the presence of a chiral center on the molecule. The stereoselectivity was achieved through steric interactions at the nucleophilic site.
