4-Bromofluorobenzene is a piperidine derivative that is used to synthesize polymer films. It is made by reacting 4-bromofluorobenzene with copper chloride in hydrochloric acid and then heating the reaction mixture. The resulting polymer film can be used as an optical filter to block ultraviolet light, which has been shown to have photochemical properties. 4-Bromofluorobenzene has also been shown to react with fatty acids, forming a palladium-catalyzed coupling reaction. This reaction can be used for the synthesis of fatty acid derivatives and solute compounds.
4-Bromofluorobenzene emits a green fluorescence when excited at 350 nm, due to its electron-deficient nature.
