Description:
4'-(4-Bromophenyl)-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (BPY) is a ligand that binds to copper. It belongs to the class of hexafluorophosphate and trifluoromethanesulfonate complexes. BPY has been shown to form coordination complexes with Cu(I) ions in substoichiometric ratios and also with anions such as chloride. The crystal structure of BPY has been determined, showing a dimer consisting of two BPY molecules coordinated to Cu(I).
