Product Information
- 2,2'-Bipyrazinyl
2,2'-Bipyrazine is a compound that exhibits anions with optimal redox potentials. It has been shown to react with various other compounds and form new products. The reaction mechanism is related to the transfer of electrons from the 2,2'-bipyrazine molecule to the electron-deficient substrate. UV absorption and vibrational spectroscopy have been used to investigate the photophysical properties of 2,2'-bipyrazine. It has also been shown that this compound can be reduced by hydrogen gas or sodium borohydride.
The reduction products are irreversible oxidation products of 2,2'-bipyrazine and include 2-hydroxy-1-phenylpyrazole (HPP) and 1-phenylpyrazole (PP). These compounds are formed through ligand activation energies that are less than 10 kJ/mol for HPP and less than 100 kJ/mol for PP.
