1,2-Bis[(dimethylamino)dimethylsilyl]ethane is a chemical compound with the formula (CH3)2N(CH2)2Si(CH3)3. It is used as a reagent in organic synthesis for the preparation of amines and anilines. The method was originally developed by William Suggs in 1946, but has been updated by many chemists since then. The most common preparative method involves heating 1,2-bis[(dimethylamino)dimethylsilyl]ethane to produce the desired product.
