Bis(methylthio)(trimethylsilyl)methane (BTMTSM) is an enolate that can be used to synthesize organic compounds. The cyclic structure of BTMTSM makes it stable to air and moisture. This compound has been shown to yield carboxylic acid, trisubstituted anion, halides, aldehydes, and other organotin compounds in preparative quantities. It also has the ability to form insoluble complexes with nitrates or solvents such as dianion.
