The reactive nature of 4-bromophenol means that it binds to other molecules easily, forming new compounds. 4-Bromophenol reacts with p-hydroxybenzoic acid (PHBA) to form 4-bromoaniline and p-hydroxybenzoic acid on a basic surface like glass or metal oxide. This reaction mechanism can be inhibited by binding inhibitors such as EDTA or DTT.
