Description

4-tert-Butylthiacalix[4]arene is a bidentate chelating agent that has been used as an indicator in potentiometric titration and as a sensor for chloride. It is also used to detect the presence of chloride ions in wastewater by measuring the current generated when 4-tert-butylthiacalix[4]arene binds to chloride ions. The binding of 4-tert-butylthiacalix[4]arene with chloride ions changes the conductivity of the solution, which can be measured using a sensor. This process can be repeated until a threshold value is reached, indicating the presence of chloride ions in wastewater.
