Its optical properties are sensitive to the environment and can be tuned by changing the growth temperature. 3-Bromothieno[3,2-b]thiophene is a benzothiadiazole compound that has been shown to have a polarizability of 2.6 D in the solid state and 2.8 D in solution. It is a single crystal x-ray diffraction with a crystalline lattice constant of 0.25 nm, radiation hardness of 10 krad, and an absorption edge at 532 nm. The molecule has been studied as a transport medium for organic photovoltaic cells because it is cheap and easy to synthesize. The molecule also shows high efficiencies due to its morphology and photovoltaic properties.
