Bis(2-ethylhexyl) isophthalate, also known as DEHP, is a phthalate ester that exhibits properties of a plasticizer. This compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of fusarium oxysporum f., in vitro. Bis(2-ethylhexyl) isophthalate inhibits the activity of fatty acid synthase, which produces fatty acids. The inhibition of this enzyme leads to a decrease in the production of disease activity and diagnostic markers. The kinetic energy and chloride ion concentration affect the rate of hydrolysis and precipitation reactions with this compound. The diagnosis of this compound can be done by measuring its optical properties or by measuring its ability to inhibit fatty acid synthase in vitro.
