Description:

4,4'-Bis(4-aminophenoxy)biphenyl is a viscous liquid that is soluble in organic solvents. It is used as a solvent for paints and coatings, and has also been shown to be effective in the manufacturing of ion exchange resins. 4,4'-Bis(4-aminophenoxy)biphenyl can be used to remove phosphite from acid solutions. The compound can be deionized by filtration and purified by crystallization. 4,4'-Bis(4-aminophenoxy)biphenyl reacts with piperazine in an acidic solution to form biphenyls. This reaction is catalyzed by hydrogen at temperatures below 50°C and above 80°C.
