2-Bromo-4-tert-butylphenol is a brominated phenolic compound with a carboxylic acid group. It is used to produce esters, ethers, and polymers. 2-Bromo-4-tert-butylphenol has been shown to be an effective catalyst for the production of hydrochloric acid by hydrogen chloride gas.
