Description:4-Bromo-m-xylene is a halogenated aromatic compound with chemical properties similar to those of the other trifluoroacetic acid derivatives. 4-Bromo-m-xylene can be synthesized by reacting ethyl acetate with a mixture of copper chloride and bromine. This reaction can also be catalyzed by palladium in the presence of biphenyl as a ligand. The reaction temperature for this synthesis is typically between -30°C and 20°C, although it may be increased to between 0°C and 50°C if desired. 4-Bromo-m-xylene is used in the production of fatty acids, fatty acid esters, and polymers.
