Description:Benzopinacol is a thermal initiator that can be used in the polymerization of unsaturated polyesters. It is ionic and has a reactive structure, allowing it to initiate radical reactions. Benzopinacol can also be used as an initiator for the polymerization of unsaturated polyester resins, such as 2-benzoylbenzoic acid, which are monosodium salts with benzophenone. The monomer reacts through transfer reactions to form a polymer. Benzopinacol has been shown to react with radiation and heat, leading to initiation of polymerization.
