Description:4-Bromo-3-(trifluoromethyl)benzoic acid is a synthetic molecule that has been used for the synthesis of polymers. It is used in the production of polyketones and polyphenylene, which are monomers for the polymerization process. 4-Bromo-3-(trifluoromethyl)benzoic acid is also used as an electrophile in the acylation step of polycondensation reactions. The biphenylene structure can be synthesized by sequential or simultaneous addition of bromine to phenol with sodium hydroxide or potassium tetrachloroplatinate. This chemical compound can be made into two isomers: 3,4-dibromobenzene dicarboxylic acid and 3,4-dichlorobenzene dicarboxylic acid.
