N-Benzylanthranilic acid can be prepared by reacting triethyl orthoformate with nitrobenzene in the presence of an organotellurium catalyst at temperatures between 0 and 100 degrees Celsius. The reaction yields a mixture of mono-, di-, and tri-nitroanilines, as well as benzyl alcohols and benzenes. It can be used as a homogeneous catalyst to produce polyphosphoric acid from phosphoric acid at temperatures between 30 and 120 degrees Celsius.
