Product Information
Berbamine is a natural compound that inhibits the growth of cells by binding to DNA duplexes and exerting significant cytotoxicity. Berbamine has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of k562 cells, which are human erythroleukemia cells, and HL-60 cells, which are human promyelocytic leukemia cells. These effects may be due to the inhibition of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and mitochondrial membrane potential. Berbamine also inhibits the activity of pro-apoptotic proteins in myeloma cell lines. This drug exhibits biological properties against cancer cells in untreated groups but not in treated groups because it is quickly metabolized by esterases in vivo.
