Bosutinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor that is used to treat chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) and Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ ALL). Bosutinib inhibits the activity of the Bcr-Abl protein, which is overexpressed in CML cells. The drug has been shown to be effective in primary myelofibrosis, a disease characterized by the production of excess blood cells. Bosutinib also binds stereoselectively to primary amines. This drug inhibits the activity of protein kinase C and protein kinase A, which are enzymes involved in cellular function. Bosutinib has been shown to inhibit growth and induce apoptosis in human K562 cells at low doses, with dose-dependent effects.
