Product Information

Name:
5-Bromo-3-pyridinemethanol
Synonyms:
  • (5-Bromo-pyridin-3-yl)-methanol
  • 3-Bromo-5-Hydroxymethylpyridine
  • Aurora Ka-3029
  • (3-Bromo-pyridin-5-yl)methanol
  • (5-Bromo-3-PYRIDINYL)methanol
Description:

5-Bromo-3-pyridinemethanol is a hydrophobic compound that inhibits the enzymatic activity of adenylate kinase, which is involved in the synthesis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). This inhibition leads to cell death by depriving the cells of energy. 5-Bromo-3-pyridinemethanol has been shown to inhibit the replication and repair of DNA. It binds to both dna and rna molecules, preventing their interaction with enzymes during replication. 5-Bromo-3-pyridinemethanol also inhibits programmed cell death, or apoptosis, by interfering with the activation of caspases.
