Sodium N-myristoylsarcosinate is a fluorescence probe that has been shown to bind to the bacterial cell membrane and disrupt the integrity of the membrane. Sodium N-myristoylsarcosinate binds to the lipid bilayer, which is made up of fatty acids, and this binding leads to a decrease in the permeability of the membrane. This disruption in bacterial membranes leads to an increase in antimicrobial activity. A study has demonstrated that sodium N-myristoylsarcosinate can be used as a carbon disulphide detergent composition for removing Ginkgo biloba extract from high salt solutions. The combination of sodium carbonate and sodium succinate with fatty acid is also effective for treating systemic diseases such as diabetes mellitus.
