Product Information

Name:
Methyl 2-cyano-2-phenylacetate
Description:

Methyl 2-cyano-2-phenylacetate is a phthalazinone derivative that is used to treat cardiovascular and neurological disorders. It has been shown to be neuroprotective in animal models of Parkinson's disease. Methyl 2-cyano-2-phenylacetate also has antihypotensive, antianemic, nitro, and antibacterial properties. This drug is soluble in both water and organic solvents and can be administered by injection or orally. Methyl 2-cyano-2-phenylacetate inhibits the synthesis of guanylate cyclase, which produces cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) from guanosine triphosphate (GTP). cGMP can act as a second messenger for various tissues. The inhibition of cGMP production leads to hypotension and vasodilation.
