Product Information
- 4-Chloro-2,1,3-Benzoxadiazole
- 4-Chlorobenzo[C][1,2,5]Oxadiazole
4-Chlorobenzofurazan is a sulfonation agent that can be used for the synthesis of organic compounds. It is also used as an analytical reagent for the determination of amines, fatty acids, and chloride. 4-Chlorobenzofurazan has been shown to be non-fluorescent when exposed to ultraviolet light. The reaction between 4-chlorobenzofurazan and nucleophilic agents such as hydroxide ion or piperazine leads to the formation of a fluorescent product. This product is a result of nucleophilic attack on the carbonyl group in 4-chlorobenzofurazan. The presence of chloride ions can cause ionization of the molecule, which will lead to a decrease in fluorescence intensity.
