Description:Chloroacetonitrile is a colorless liquid that can be used as an industrial disinfectant and chemical intermediate. Chloroacetonitrile has also been shown to inhibit the oxidative dna damage in cells of cancer patients. This drug is used as a solvent for methanol, which is then oxidized by cytochrome P450 enzymes to produce reactive oxygen species. Chloroacetonitrile causes DNA strand breaks by forming covalent bonds with nitrogen atoms in the DNA molecule.
