3-Chloro-2,4,5-trifluorobenzoic acid (3CTBA) is a synthetic fluoroquinolone antibiotic that has been shown to be active against gram-negative bacteria. 3CTBA inhibits the production of chloride ions in the cytoplasm of bacteria by inhibiting the enzyme chlorate reductase. 3CTBA is also effective against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium avium complex.
