It is a cationic polymerization reaction product that can be used to produce polymers with high solute capacity and it can be used as a chromatographic stationary phase. The production of hydrochloric acid by 2-chloromethyl-1,3-dioxolane may have health consequences for humans. The use of this chemical in chromatographic science has not yet been studied.
