This compound has been shown to be effective against mouse mammary carcinoma cells, human colon carcinoma cells, and human carcinoma cells. FTIR spectroscopy has revealed that 5-chloro-2-hydroxypyridine absorbs light at around 1615 cm−1 and 1742 cm−1.
