It can be used in organic solvents such as diethyl ether and hexanes to transvinylate anion with methanol or ethylene glycol to produce propenyl alcohols. (1,5-Cyclooctadiene)bis(methyldiphenylphosphine) iridium(I) hexafluorophosphate has been found to be insoluble in water, alcohols, and acetals.
