• Description: N-({3-Chloro-4-[(4-chlorobenzyl)sulfonyl]phenyl}carbamoyl)-2,6-difluorobenzamide is a prodrug that is metabolized into its active form of clofazimine in the liver by CYP enzymes. Clofazimine has been shown to be effective against leprosy and tuberculoid leprosy. It binds to the bacterial enzyme β-glucuronidase, which hydrolyzes glucuronides in the lysosomes. This leads to accumulation of glucuronide metabolites and inhibition of protein synthesis. Clofazimine also has anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
