Description:Cyclo(-Pro-Thr) is a cyclic peptide that is derived from the amino acid sequence of serotonin. Cyclo(-Pro-Thr) has been detected in human urine, and it is possible that this compound may be formed by the hydrolysis of serotonin by enzymes such as pipecolate oxidase. The presence of cyclo(-Pro-Thr) in human urine has been correlated with the occurrence of stomach ulcers, which are caused by substances such as famotidine and other proton pump inhibitors. Cyclo(-Pro-Thr) has also been found to inhibit the production of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which is an important neurotransmitter for controlling muscle tone, blood pressure, and anxiety.
