Alpha-casein has been implicated in cancer, pseudoallergic reactions, and neurodegenerative diseases. The human alpha-casein sequence is approximately 95% identical to the bovine alpha-casein sequence. It also contains a neutral pH, high dichroism, and can be used as an antihistamine when mixed with cetirizine.
