Description:2-Cyclopropylalanine (2-CPA) is a natural amino acid that is found in camellia and perilla leaves. It has been shown to have low toxicity, and has been used as an additive in animal feed. 2-CPA has been studied for its ability to prevent liver damage. In the past, 2-CPA was also used as an antiepileptic drug, but this use is not recommended because it can cause hallucinations. 2-CPA is also used to produce cysteamine hydrochloride and cysteamine, which are drugs that have antihistaminic (anti-allergy), antiemetic (nausea), and antiulcer properties.
