Cascarilla oil is an extract of the bark of the cascarilla tree. It is a dark-brown to blackish-brown liquid that contains malic acid and fatty acids. The average particle diameter of this extract is in the range of 1.0-1.5 microns, and it has a pressurised container that prevents degradation of its active ingredients. Cascarilla oil is used as a control agent in food products, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. It also functions as an emulsifier and stabilizer in sunscreens, antiperspirants, and hair conditioners. This product can be cross-linked with lemongrass oil to form a thermoset plastic for use in coatings for paper or cloth.
