6-Chlorohexanoic Acid is a carboxylate used in fluorescence analysis, activity tests and chromatography. 6-Chlorohexanoic Acid has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against bacteria and fungi, as well as a high rate of stability in fruit extract. It also has the ability to inhibit the growth of human serum bacteria, such as Staphylococcus aureus. This compound can be immobilized on metal surfaces or on caproic acid-coated electrodes for use in electrochemical impedance spectroscopy studies. 6-Chlorohexanoic Acid is also found in human genome, where it plays an important role in fatty acid synthesis.
