Product Information
- 3-Cyanopropionic Acid
3-Cyanopropanoic acid is a reactive compound that forms a complex with palladium. It is produced by the reaction of acrylonitrile and chloride in the presence of a base such as sodium hydroxide. The reaction mechanism is shown below:
The rate of this reaction increases with increasing concentration of acrylonitrile, chloride and base. 3-Cyanopropanoic acid has been used to activate functional groups for reactions, such as acrylonitrile which can be used to produce vinylene. This chemical can also be used to remove protozoan parasites from marine macroalgae.
