Description:

5-Chlorosalicylamide is a hydroxylated analog of salicylic acid. It has been shown to have anti-cancer and antiprotease activity. 5-Chlorosalicylamide inhibits the activity of membrane-bound proteases, such as lps-stimulated raw264.7 cells, by binding to their catalytic sites. The compound also affects the function of neuronal cells, leading to death by intramolecular hydrogen formation and serine protease inhibition. Functional assays show that 5-chlorosalicylamide has a water permeability of greater than 10x10cm/s and hemolytic activity at concentrations of 2mg/mL or higher. This drug also has an inhibitory effect on cancer cell growth in vitro and in vivo, as well as a protective effect against tropical diseases such as malaria.
