Chetocin is a cytotoxic agent that has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity against HL-60 cells, among other cell lines. It has also proven to be a promising anticancer agent in model systems, with minimal toxicity and a low molecular weight. Chetocin is structurally similar to chaetocin, an antimicrobial peptide derived from the bacteria Chaetomium thermophilum. Chetocin has been found to inhibit methyltransferase activity and may be useful in cancer treatment due to its ability to inhibit bcr-abl kinase. This compound is also a potential pharmacological agent and may have biochemical properties that make it effective as an antimicrobial or anticancer drug.
