Trans-1,4-cyclohexanediol is a molecule that belongs to the group of diols. It is soluble in water and has a melting point of -87°C. Trans-1,4-cyclohexanediol can be found as an impurity in hydrogenated soybean oil and also has been used as an analytical reagent for determining the presence of fatty acids. The x-ray crystal structures have been determined for trans-1,4-cyclohexanediol and cyclohexane ring in order to elucidate the reaction mechanism for this chemical.
