Description:
2-Chloro-5-(1,1-dimethylethyl)-1,3-dinitrobenzene is a chlorinating agent that can be used to produce hydrocarbons. It is also an intermediate in the production of other chemicals, such as thionyl chloride and phenols. This chemical is soluble in hydrocarbon solvents and reacts with chloride to form chlorinated solvents. Dimethylformamide is produced by the reaction of 2-chloro-5-(1,1-dimethylethyl)-1,3-dinitrobenzene with dimethylamine.
