Cyclobutanethiol can be used as a sealant or as a solvent in organic chemistry. The compound has been shown to inhibit insulin resistance by binding to cb1 receptors on cells, thereby inhibiting the production of glucose. Cyclobutanethiol also absorbs ultraviolet light, so it can be used in photochemistry.
