Product Information
2-(Cyclohex-1-enylamino)benzoic acid is a potent antituberculosis drug that has been shown to be effective against Mycobacterium tuberculosis. This compound is synthesized by the condensation of anthranilic acid and chloroacetic acid, followed by catalyzed cyclization with cyclohexanone. The mechanism of action of 2-(cyclohex-1-enylamino)benzoic acid is mediated by its ability to react as a nucleophile with mycobacterial dna, causing DNA cleavage and inhibiting bacterial growth.
2-(Cyclohex-1-enylamino)benzoic acid is also an inhibitor of the enzyme enamine oxidase, which is necessary for the biosynthesis of polyamines. Polyamines are essential for cell replication in bacteria and can be found in high concentrations in Mycobacterium tuberculosis cells. Inhibition of this enzyme leads to decreased production of poly
