5-Chloroisatoic anhydride is a chemical compound that is the precursor to a number of biologically active compounds. It is an analog of the natural product, anthranilic acid. 5-Chloroisatoic anhydride has been used in the synthesis of benzodiazepines and phenacyl esters. 5-Chloroisatoic anhydride also binds to affinity ligands on cancer cells, which inhibits tumor growth. In addition, it has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and can be used as a potential treatment for Parkinson’s disease.
