Description:Casuarinin is a natural product that is found in the leaves of the Indian tree, Caesalpinia sappan. It has been shown to have an apoptotic effect on tumor cells and inflammatory skin diseases. Casuarinin binds to TNF-α induced hydroxyl group metabolic rate receptors on basophilic leukemia and carcinoma cell lines, which leads to a decrease in the production of proinflammatory cytokines. Casuarinin is also active against inflammatory skin diseases such as atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. The mechanism of action may be due to its ability to inhibit the release of histamine from mast cells, thereby suppressing inflammation.
