Description:Cassia oil is a natural, non-steroidal coumarin derivative that has been shown to have activity against Candida glabrata. This compound has been found to have an antifungal effect in the form of inhibition of the synthesis of RNA polymerase and DNA polymerase, which are required for bacterial growth. Cassia oil also displays antibacterial effects against oral pathogens, such as Escherichia coli and Enterococcus faecalis. The analytical method used for cassia oil was developed by Chinese researchers and is based on the 1H NMR spectroscopy of cinnamon oil. The efficacy of cassia oil was evaluated using a model system with Angelica dahurica (a type of wormwood). This study found that cassia oil had an insecticidal effect against larvae of Culex quinquefasciatus (mosquito) larvae.
