Description:Carteolol is a beta-adrenergic receptor blocking agent that slows the heart rate and lowers blood pressure. It is used to treat high blood pressure, arrhythmias, and glaucoma. Carteolol hydrochloride is an ester prodrug of carteolol that undergoes hydrolysis by esterases to release carteolol in vivo.
