Cephaeline is a natural compound that can be found in the genus Quillaja saponaria. It has been shown to have effects on mitochondrial membrane potential, pyrazole ring, and receptor activity. Cephaeline also has anti-inflammatory properties and can be used for the treatment of bowel disease. It has been demonstrated to have therapeutic potential for congestive heart failure and bowel disease. Cephaeline is a natural product that is synthesized by the polymerase chain reaction from genomic DNA of Quillaja saponaria as well as from other related species. The signal peptide is cleaved off in order to release cephaeline which can then be purified by preparative high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).
