2-Chloro-1,3-dimethylimidazolinium chloride, also known as DMC, is a chloroamidinium salt used as a coupling reagent. DMC finds application as dehydrating agent for ester and heterocycle formation, synthesis of 1,6-anhydro sugars from unprotected glycopyranoses and as a ligand in the synthesis of Co complexes to be used as fluorescent molecular sensors.
