Product Information
- 1H-Indole, 4-chloro-6-methoxy-
- 4-chloro-6-methoxy-1H-indole
4-Chloro-6-methoxyindole is a potent inducer of the cytochrome P450 system, which is involved in the metabolism of xenobiotics. It has been shown to induce glucosinolates and casein in mammalian cells. 4-Chloro-6-methoxyindole also induces the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and DNA damage. Several genotoxic effects have been observed, including genotoxic activities that are associated with carcinogenic potential. 4-Chloro-6-methoxyindole has been shown to induce hamster v79 cells at low doses and human v79 cells at high doses, suggesting that it may be carcinogenic in humans.
