It also exhibits low volatility and a melting point of 148-150 degrees Celsius. 4'-Chloroacetanilide can be prepared by the reaction of acetanilide with sodium hypochlorite in the presence of an acid catalyst. The compound has been shown to have acute toxicities and hydrogen bonding interactions with proteins.
